Every once in a while, I'll make a purchase that turns out to be so useful and convenient, that I'll wonder how I ever got along without it. It does not perform any complex functions, but it's beautiful in its simple functionality.
- The spout forms perfectly to your lips due to a little concave ring around the middle of it
- The top is slightly rubberized for excellent grip (plus it's green, which is cool)
- The strap is sturdy and comfortable to hold
- The top cap twists on and off in one full rotation
That's about it. It doesn't need to do anything else, and it doesn't try. It's the perfect solution for the narrow/wide mouth water bottle dilemma.

Great cap that delivers as advertised. It's easy to open and close due to the rubber coated cap and the smaller opening makes it a lot easier to drink from a large Nalgene without spilling water all over myself, yet you can remove the whole thing to clean out the bottle. Much better than the cheap inserts that fit into the throat of a Nalgene bottle (and always fall out).

This is a very well conceived bottle cap: simple, nice and extremely functional, vastly superior to the original one that comes with the Nalgene wide mouth bottles.
(I am reviewing a "second generation" cap; the first one had a leaking problem with some bottles, as stated at Human Gear's web site - to their credit they offer a free replacement to anyone who had purchased the leaky one).
Alas, I hate to say that they have one great drawback: it absorbs the taste and smell of some beverages.
It is very well thought off, the designer(s) must be proud of their creation; it is not cheapie; but the material it was made of is inadequate for its use.

I purchased this cap with the 40oz wide mouth Klean Kanteen bottle for my husband for work. He needed a wide mouth bottle for cleaning but a narrow mouth for drinking. He hates sport spouts as he feels he doesn't get enough water when drinking. So...we opted for this cap. Here is one tip to prevent leaking. Apply the base cap to the bottle with the top cap off. After securing the base cap, then tighten the upper cap. After learning this, my husband discovered the bottle won't leak anymore.

Okay, so here is the scoop. I bought this for my new Nalgene bottle and when I received it and used it, it did EXACTLY was is was supposed to and was made well and looks great. Now, here is where it gets interesting. The black retaining strap was split along the thin part so I emailed a picture of the split to HumanGear with an explanation of what I found on my new CapCap. This is where HumanGear redeemed themselves and gained a customer for LIFE!!!! So, they responded very quickly apologizing for the split in the retaining ring and ensured their products are built for everyday use and it must have been a defect. So they promptly shipped me a new retaining ring. I could have easily sent it back to Amazon for replacement but why when 90% of the cap was fine. So when I received my replacement today not only did they send me TWO new straps to have an extra spare, they threw in one of their GoToobs travel tube for Lotions, Shampoo, etc. Really cool product. Also attached was a hand written note from the person I had emailed about my issue with another apology. I am not a HumanGear customer for life! This is how you handle customer service in a world like we have today!
